MUSTANG OF THE WEEK 1 student in each classroom is recognized per week by the teacher for certain positive behavior or academic achievements. ACCELERATED READER (AR) Accelerated Reader is a computerized reading program that allows a student to take a comprehension reading test on a book that he/she has read. Students receive immediate feedback in the form of reading points based on the length and difficulty of the book, as well as the number of questions answered correctly. Students in grades 2-5 have the opportunity to participate in Accelerated Reader (AR). How does Accelerated Reader work? It is as easy as 1- 2- 3!
Students have the opportunity to be recognized for their achievement with Accelerated Reader. Classroom teachers recognize their students for their progress with Accelerated Reader. In addition, we offer school-wide incentives to motivate students to achieve their AR goals.
Below is a chart of our grade level student goals for the Accelerated Reader program.

Classes have the opportunity to earn a treat each month for their behavior in the cafeteria. We have developed a green, yellow and red clip system in the cafeteria. Each day each class starts on green. At the end of the lunch period if the class remains on green or yellow they earn a sticker for the day. At the end of the month if the class has earned 80% of their stickers the class will earn a treat. It is important that students follow our cafeteria expectations to ensure a safe and friendly environment. HALLWAY/CLASSROOM INCENTIVE PROGRAM The Positive Behavior Support Team has implemented an exciting Hallway/Classroom incentive program. Students have the opportunity to earn Mustang Pride tickets for exhibiting good behavior. Each time a student earns a ticket, they place the ticket in a bin in their classroom. Each week we draw two tickets from each grade level. When a students’ name is drawn they have the opportunity to choose a prize. It is very exciting to reward students for exhibiting their Mustang Pride! YMCA In an effort to assist our working parents, the YMCA provides a morning program from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and an afternoon program from 2:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (1:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays). The students come to the labs for instructional classes on various software applications that are related to the classroom curriculum. Teachers also receive training in the lab. ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL) ESOL is provided at every school, K-12. The objective of this program is to develop English language proficiency in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. During the development of English language proficiency, students progress through the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT EDUCATION (ESE) ESE programs and services address the unique needs of students with mild, moderate, and severe disabilities. The Framework for Higher Achievement Standards and Benchmarks are appropriate for the majority of students with disabilities. When necessary, accommodations are identified and a Individual Education Plan (IEP) is initiated. ESE programs and services are designed to assist students in reaching their IEP goals. The student's IEP goals and objectives are met through the use of instructional and behavioral approaches which are research based and exemplify best practices.
